Michael's new porch.

That may be a stretch since it isn't really a new porch. It is a transformed porch; formerly a gigantic storage room now a summer salon.

Everest by IMAX

Finally! Ever since reading Into Thin Air shortly after it was published I have been haunted by the 1996 perfect storm of Jon Krakauer's reporting expedition, the IMAX film attempt, and the most catastrophic and deadly year ever on Mt. Everest. I do not understand why people would risk lives (their own and others) to enter into such a tangle with nature. But they do. It took me all these years to finally see it on the IMAX screen. Now it's over. It was worth it. Read the book. See the movie. Stay off the mountain.
Then comes the giant rocker.

Just a bit further up the road.
Giant chicken. And baby.

Concrete, of course. That crazy road to Waldo road always has something new to catch my eye.

Sidewalk sweeping pays off.

Cardinal nest in my kitchen window shrub,

Here's mommy. Hard to see because I had to take it from inside over the window and screen. Every time I went out she flew off. See her red beak just right of center?

Ceiling tiles.

I found these at a yard sale for ten bucks for the two. They were layered with white, ivory, aqua, and green latex paint in various stages of peeling. It was a labor of love to strip and scrub but I think the finished product was worth it.

Copper and bronze art.

And my favorite necklace.

G L O R I A Gloria her name is G. (G) L. (L) O. (O) R, (R) I. (I)

Turns out I was wrong about Dave being my oldest friend. It's Gloria. We worked together at Burger Chef while we were in high school.
Once more thumbs up to the internet. And high school reunion sights.

Maybe, maybe, the garden will grow.

Carrots and radishes all in a row.

And of course eggplant, beets, lettuce, tomato, strawberries, basil and parsley, and sunflowers.

Gerry & Sandy’s “Big Bang” House Warming Party

Pig included.

Lots of other good food and drink but, really, what can top this. Note the head on the side of the grill. It fell off earlier when the pig fell into the tub. Now that's a party!

Austin Powers was here.

Grooviest ever ceiling fixture. It's in my hallway. It came free with the house. What a deal.

My friend Dave.

My oldest friend as in the longest term not oldest age. We first met somewhere in late 69 or early 70 and have managed to stay in touch sporadically over the years. The advent of e-mail made it more possible than ever. Now when he passes through to visit family we have a chance to eat and chat. It was a wonderful but all too short visit. You can tell that by the fact that I never even got a picture. So here he is on the TV station website. You can read his commentaries anytime at WPBN.

By the way, his name's not really Dave. It's Peet.

Out with new, in with the newer.

Alas, the red furniture I so dearly loved (see way back in October) "dye transferred". That's furniture sales people lingo for when you sit on it it rubs off on your favorite white shirt and makes it pink. They reordered and - second verse, same as the first - so letting go of my idea of perfect red furniture I ended up with this.

Like buttah. Soft, beauteous leather. Come on over and sit a spell.

Ripped down those freakin' shower doors this weekend.

I have to admit the shower curtain is pretty girlie but then it was an Anthropologie find. Anthropologie has to be the girliest store ever.
The hooks.

Who knew Hardee's bought out Burger Chef?

Not me. Not Pam. But Dave does. He owns the Hardee's in SpringHill and has this hanging on the wall. We had a Burger Chef reminisce. Wednesday is motorcycle night.

Christmas present from Pam.

The Jersey Boys - Oh, what a night - two hours of memorable music.

What do you get when you mix a few dominoes with a craft board?

Why, a street sign with your address, of course.

I want this!

It's five feet tall and the coolest yard ornament I've ever seen. If anyone wants to buy it for me (at almost 300 bucks!) it's at Harmony Gardens.
