Visiting Betty Lou's flood zone.
This street is like a little island in the midst of all the dry land. We drove right up to her street without seeing even a damp sidewalk. Then, boom! no wake zone signs smack us upside the head. And it's slowing creeping closer to the homes as the land continues to saturate.
The yard next door was squishy almost all the way to the front door.
Evening beach.
Cruise ship heads out.
Surfers get active.
And Hannah starts moving in.

Headed to the beach.
Cocoa Beach to be exact. Michele's Cocoa Beach Condo to be more exact. For a weekend of fun and sun. Who me? I mean really I believe in lily white. I shall lay beneath an umbrella with a big hat a bucket of Mojitos.

I found this bowl of raffia like beads and grabbed a handful thinking I would find something to do with them later. Here's later.

Hurricane Day after all.
Fay shut us down. Tho's it raining (and we need it desperately)there doesn't seem to be much other hurricane like activity. The power went out for about an hour but that's it. A few trees and power lines are down around town. See, it's not that bad. I was out shopping and running around town.

Santa Fay
Hurricane Fay is swinging up the state but instead of staying home we are here at work getting ready to party. So from Santa FE we will become Santa FAY.

Celebrate "Tropical Santa Fay"
In honor of Tropical Storm Fay, the Center for Student Leadership & Activities is holding a Tropical Santa Fay party today, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in S-147. Help us try to reason with hurricane season, enjoy some Jimmy Buffett music, and sample a few (non-alcoholic) Hurricanes, Sea Breezes, and other boat drinks. There’s nothing quite like wastin’ away the last hectic days before fall begins. We hope to see you there. Grass skirts and coconut bras are optional; ties are forbidden.

Perseids
Once again this meteor shower has come and gone in an non-viewable state. I guess the only way I'll ever see it is to head north. :(

Hummingbird bush sans hummingbird.

Those little birds are too darn fast for me and my camera. This is really the neighbor's shrub but I'll grip a starter piece one of these days. Michael says it is a pagoda plant. I googled it. As usual, he is correct.
